Bridging the Canals: A New Drainage Lifeline for Sholinganallur

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) is tackling chronic waterlogging in Semmancheri and Sholinganallur with a Rs 184.88-crore stormwater drain project funded by KfW. Spanning 4,235 meters along OMR and TNHB Main Road, the initiative links the Semmancheri-Arasankazhani canal to the Buckingham Canal to fast-track rainwater evacuation. Following an inspection of key sites at Nookampalayam Link Road and TNHB 'A' Road, GCC Commissioner G S Sameeran has urged officials to meet the strict September-end completion deadline.
